The Quiet Lu
A moment of calm in a busy world
editation can seem reserved for retreats, perfect postures
and minds free of thought. In reality, stilling the mind can be
simpler and more accessible than you might imagine. I have
included a short meditation practice below and invite you to experience it for yourself.
Rather than trying to make the mind blank, simply notice each
thought and allow it to pass. If a painful thought with a long history
appears unexpectedly, acknowledge it gently: “I see you. I hear you.”
Then allow it to float away.
Bring your attention to the physical sensation of breathing in and
out. When the mind wanders—as every mind does—simply notice
and return to the breath. Over time, this quiet practice can nurture
patience, sharpen focus and encourage a kinder, less reactive
relationship with your inner world. It can also help you release
thoughts you no longer need, calm the central nervous system and
simply be.
