EY TO LFW AND A FEW
YOUR CHRISTMAS LIST
1. L3VEL3: For the One Who Takes Their
Hair Seriously
I'm including the whole L3VEL3 range here
because everyone wants something different
from their hair. There are styling powders,
salt sprays, clays, putties and more, so you
can choose something that suits the person rather than
buying whatever happens to be nearest the till.
My advice? Find out what they already use, or ask
their barber. Someone who likes a loose, textured finish
probably wants something different from someone who
likes everything slicked into place.
A few products picked with a bit of thought could
make a great little grooming bundle. It also gives them
a chance of recreating their haircut at home—rather
than telling us, "It only looks like that when you do it."
2. THE LITTLE BARBER BOOKS: FOR THE NEXT GENERATION
I had JJ Savani and Gecko Trimz working alongside me
and having a team you can trust makes a massive difference.
Everyone has a job to do. You want the hair to look right, but you
also need to work together and keep things moving.
What people see is the finished show. What they don't
always see is the preparation, the conversations and all the little
decisions beforehand. I'm proud of being part of it. I'm also
grateful that barbering has given me opportunities I wouldn't
have imagined when I started.
If you're reading this and you want to do something outside
your usual working day, let people know.
Show your work.
Start a conversation.
You don't have to have every step worked out before you take
the first one.
I couldn't put together a Christmas list without including my two
books, The Little Barber Who Could and The Little Barber Who
Shined.
Writing children's books is another thing I didn't expect
barbering to lead me into. But creativity, confidence and believing
in yourself belong in children's stories just as much as they belong
in our industry.
These would make a lovely gift for a young reader, especially
if there's a barber or hairdresser in the family. There's something
special about children seeing a familiar job become part of a story.
And if one little reader starts thinking, "Maybe I could do
something like that," that means a lot to me.
You can find out more about both books on Amazon.
MY CHRISTMAS WISH LIST
If you're buying for someone who loves their hair, enjoys a
good fragrance or has a little creative person in the family, these
are five picks for your list.
